Following her Level I certification in Early Childhood Music at the Gordon Institute of Music Learning (August 2011), Emma arranged a one-off informal baby music play session at a friend’s house. There were three mothers and their first babies (between six and eight months). Emma only knew one mother (host) and had met her baby once before. The other two mothers and babies were strangers to Emma.

Here is the text one of the mothers wrote to the host following the session:
Just wanted to drop you a quick line to say thank you for today – I thought Emma was wonderful. She had such a great rapport with all three of our little ones – they were captivated! I particularly loved the way she picked up on the noises they were making and played them back to them or built them into the songs. Could you pass this on to her as I didn’t actually tell her this this morning?
